Emergency & Urgent Care

Emergencies are accepted as our doctors are able to work them in when our clinic is open. If you call when our office is closed our answering service has a list of numbers to emergency care facilities. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us immediately. We have Veterinarians and personnel on duty who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can be things such as rattlesnake bites, foreign body ingestion, hit by car, animal attack wounds/trauma, and toxin ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call immediately.

We perform thorough and complete oral examinations while under anesthesia for the dental cleaning. This includes full mouth intraoral digital dental radiographs. The combination of an examination and dental radiographs maps out the best plan for your pet and determines if any teeth need to get extracted, if any surgery needs to be performed, or if additional therapies like local antibiotic infusion need to be applied. We then perform ultrasonic scaling of the teeth and under the gum line to thoroughly clean the teeth. We finish by polishing the teeth and then performing a therapeutic laser session on the gumline/gingiva to decrease inflammation, pain, and increase healing. Prior to, during, and after anesthesia, we are monitoring your pet's physical stats visually and with state of the art anesthetic monitoring equipment. We are also keeping them warm with our Bair Hugger Warming system and supporting their blood pressure and hydration with intravenous fluids.  We know that when your pet is under anesthesia, it is a big concern. We want to let you know that our Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians are confident with our anesthesic skills and perform dental surgery on a range of patients, from low risk young and healthy pets to high risk cardiac disease patients. We would not place your pet under anesthesia unless it is necessary and as safe as possible.

We perform many types of surgery. Whether your pet needs to be spayed, neutered, have a Caesarean, have a tumor removed, intestinal foreign body removal, or a spleen removed, we can do it. When orthopedic surgery is indicated, we have a traveling surgeon, Dr. Fetherston, come to our clinic so that you do not have to travel. We use state of the art anesthetic monitoring equipment, have a full in-house lab, use modern cautery, and maintain our pet's body temperature with two types of warming systems at once.

We offer complete ultrasound examinations of the abdomen. This is an important diagnostic tool to help us find a specific cause of an illness or injury. We can diagnoses bladder or urethral stones, bladder tumors, prostate disease (enlargement, abscesses, prostatitis, neoplasia), splenic disease or tumors, liver disease or tumors (including gall bladder), pancreatitis, kidney disease or tumors, adrenal tumors or suspicion for adrenal disease, intestinal disease, or enlargement of lymph nodes. We use this tool on a daily basis.

We can also perform ultrasound on soft tissue swellings, most torn/strained muscles/ligaments, and fast scans of the heart & chest cavity.
